Teen Choice Awards 2015: Should ‘American Idol,’ ‘The Voice,’ ‘MasterChef Junior’ win Reality show honors?
We have spoken rather extensively about a pretty wide array of nominees for the Teen Choice Awards this year (at least for the television ones), but we are closing out our coverage of the first wave tonight with the Choice TV: Reality Show category. This is a category that we’re of very strong opinion about, mostly because there are at least a couple of shows in here that don’t really have that much business being nominated.
Granted, we’re not the only person with authority here! We want you to also share in the comments or the poll below below what you think is the best of these nominees, and the actual winner is going to be announced come the Teen Choice Awards broadcast on Fox August 16.
The nominees
American Idol (Fox)
Dance Moms (Lifetime)
Keeping Up with the Kardashians (E!)
Lip Sync Battle (Spike TV)
MasterChef Junior (Fox)
The Voice (NBC)
Who should win – To us, it is really between three shows. “Lip Sync Battle” is the new, fresh face, and it is for the most part a fun show … at least when they can get some big celebrities on board the show. Meanwhile, “The Voice” is consistent fun, while “MasterChef Junior” is delightfully inspirational, even if it is a tad repetitive every single time that it is on the air. For now, we’re going to go with “Lip Sync Battle” just because it’s something new in a genre that is very stale.
Who will win – Unfortunately, the Kardashians are very popular at the TCAs, and they and “Dance Moms” are just not our reality TV cup of tea. We’re not going to start bashing any show, but to us we do prefer reality shows that are a little more positive, and either have some sort of winner or person who you genuinely feel is better at the end than where they were at the beginning.
