Teen Choice Awards 2015: Will ‘Austin & Ally,’ ‘Girl Meets World,’ ‘The Big Bang Theory’ win Comedy Series?
The Teen Choice Awards are not going to be airing until August 16, but as we’ve said here time and time again, we’ve got a lot of time this summer to talk about some of these categories. Also, we know that there will be at least one more wave of nominations coming before then, so we might as well get to discussing the first group while we can.
Today, the focus is on the Choice TV Series: Comedy category,
The nominees
Austin & Ally (Disney Channel)
Awkward (MTV)
Girl Meets World (Disney Channel)
New Girl (Fox)
The Big Bang Theory (CBS)
Young & Hungry (ABC Family)
Who should win – We’re torn on this one given that while we’ve seen a vast majority of shows out there, we’re not as familiar with the Disney Channel lineup. Therefore, we cannot really rule on “Austin & Ally.” However, we can rule on “Girl Meets World,” and it would get our vote (if we were a teen, granted) over the amount of growth it has shown ever since first coming on the air. Remember just how insane the expectations were for it.
Who will win – Ironically, we’re saying “Austin & Ally,” mostly because we saw what it did at the Kids Choice Awards earlier this year, and shows like “New Girl” and “Awkward” may not have the same fresh-faced feeling that they once did. Many teens may have grown up over the past few years watching Ross Lynch and company, so that makes it a solid option. We’d say for now that “Young & Hungry” is the sleeper pick.
