Not even ‘House of Cards’ creator knows show’s ratings
For a long time now, we have wondered the ratings for “House of Cards,” “Orange is the New Black,” and a pretty wide array of other Netflix shows. However, this does not mean that anyone is getting answers about any of them. For the time being, all we have really heard are some reports in regards to the percentage of people who use the service to watch the shows … and that’s about it. There is not anything more in-depth out there, at least so far as either we or even the aforementioned show’s creator knows.
Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter in a new interview, Beau Willimon explained still what a bizarre, different existence it is working for a network that is still not entirely transparent about everything when it comes to their own successes:
“To this day, I have no idea how many people have watched the show on Netflix. They have never given me any data whatsoever. All they say is, ‘Well, we’re doing well and we’d like another season.’ And that’s really all I need to know.”
We feel like this has to be a really bizarre feeling at times to not know anything in regards to particular success, though for us, you’re probably in a very good place if your show is getting Emmy nominations and buzz among people subscribing to the surface. From the outside, we’d say that “Orange is the New Black” is the service’s biggest original show, but who knows? It may just get the most buzz among a certain demographic.
