‘Outlander’ season 2 spoilers: A new blast from Jamie Fraser’s past in France
Isn’t this week turning out to be quite the embarrassment of riches when it comes to “Outlander” casting news? It is definitely starting to feel that way, thanks more and more to some of the casting news that has come at us this week almost like a deluge.
So what is the latest one? According to a new report from TVLine, French actress Margaux Chatelier has signed on to play the part of Annalise de Marillac, a woman who Jamie Fraser had affections for back when he was in France earlier on in his life. We wouldn’t call her a full-fledged past lover given that he was a virgin before Claire, but she does at least have some past connections to him. As for whether or not she turns out to be a challenge for his relationship with Claire, we don’t want to spoil anything in that department. (Also, we’re not a book reader and we really don’t even want to spoil it too much for ourselves.)
Meanwhile, fellow French actor Marc Duret has been hired to be Monsieur Joseph Duverney, a man who is a Minister to Louis XV, and someone who Jamie at least spends some time with over the course of the 13 or so episodes coming in season 2.
As for how the show is handling the massive transition from Scotland to France in general, the site reports that there has already been a French tutor hired to assist with many of the issues when it comes to translation. While there are more than likely many who speak French already among the cast / crew, we’re also looking back at a certain era in history.
