‘The X-Files’ spoilers: First look at Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny back at work

It is pretty darn crazy to think that just as recently as less than a year ago, it appeared almost as though there was virtually no chance that we were ever going to see “The X-Files” back on TV again. This was a franchise that was beloved by so many, but at the same time dead and buried in the eyes of many executives. However, a fan campaign coupled with passion among certain executives helped to bring it back.

Now, we have the first photo of David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson back in action as Mulder and Scully; isn’t that a wonderful reason to celebrate? We certainly do. These two characters will be returning to Fox this January for a six-part limited event, which will be one happy reunion. This is a case where we almost don’t want to know anything about what will happen before the show airs, though we do at least know for sure now that Joel McHale is guest-staring in one episode.

We imagine that we will get at least a few more teasers here and there on the show well before it airs, but what we want to know mostly is this: Is it possible that these six episodes could lead to more down the road? We feel like it is, but much of that could depend on actor scheduling and the success of these.

In other words, if you are excited already about the return of the show, be sure to do more than just watch live; encourage your friends to do so, as well!
