ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 8 spoilers: Changes of some variety ahead

As of right now, it is not entirely easy to find out information about the upcoming eighth season of “Castle,” with the biggest reason for that merely being that the show is still many weeks away from filming, and right now were are mostly in a position of the writers trying to figure out just what stories they want to tell.

By now, you may have heard the news that Penny Johnson Jerald is not returning as Captain Gates, and in addition to that, Terence Paul Winter and Alexi Hawley have been brought in as the new showrunners. This will give the series a pair of different voices, and this in turn may help the show establish some new and potentially exciting things! This is something that Hawley discussed further in a chat with Entertainment Weekly:

“We just want to get in there and try to tell some really dynamic stories … Going into season 8, it feels like it’s time to shake things up a little bit.”

The reason we feel like the new creative team is a win for “Castle” fans is because you are getting aboard two people who do have a deep knowledge of the show already, but also have not been the primary shot-callers to date. With this new role, they can hopefully get a chance to try out some new things, take a few more risks, and also bring the characters to new places. Some times, more of the same is good, but after seven years, many of the cast may want to try something new.
