‘Shades of Blue’: Jennifer Lopez – NBC series officially begins filming

Shades of Blue -More and more we see major stars heading to TV. Halle Berry did it last year with “Extant,” Claire Danes did it with “Homeland” and has Emmys for it, and we’re going to be seeing Jennifer Lopez coming to NBC next year with a new series entitled “Shades of Blue.” This is a show that brings her back to some of her New York roots, and it will try to do something potentially that some other shows have struggled with as of late: Redefine the police drama.

Below, you can get confirmation from Lopez herself that the first day of filming for the series is complete. There is actually not too much known about this show as of yet save for the fact that it was given a straight-to-series order, and she stars (per the video below) as a mother who is trying to protect the city, and also try to ensure at the same time that the world is safe for her daughter.

For us, it feels reasonably clear at the moment what one of the biggest struggles is going to be for this show: Trying to figure out a way to stand out that we have not quite seen before. This show in particular feels quite a bit like “Blue Bloods,” which is also about police officers who have to deal with ethical dilemma in New York City. Maybe this series is going to be edgier; on the surface, it at least feels like you have a cast that will appeal to many young viewers.

Given that we are so early in the process, we imagine that there will be so much more in the way of news shared every step of the way. Stay tuned!
