‘Masters of Sex’ season 3 video: Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan on time jump, expectations
The third season of “Masters of Sex” is set to premiere on Showtime come Sunday, July 12, and it is going to be in very many ways a different season. The show is no longer having to worry about having Masters and Johnson be complete underdogs, or having their personal life be entirely under wraps. Times are changing! We’re jumping forward a solid six years to around 1967, and it is an era where much of their research is starting to become widely accepted and appreciated.
The video below does offer a few little teases here and there as to what could be coming up story-wise, but for the most part we would say that one of the things that it does most successfully is merely offer up a taste of some of the style. Michael Sheen, Lizzy Caplan, and the rest of the cast talk some of the changes that they are making in regards to fashion, and how that influences some of the characters’ choices.
With this new season, you mostly do get the sense that this is a show that does just want to press forward, and tell a story of important moments rather than one that just slogs through each year in an effort to stay on the air as long as possible.
For Showtime, hopefully this will also be an opportunity to have viewers recognize the show’s excellence again. After scoring many nominations for season 1, “Masters of Sex” failed to receive a mass of award-season attention for the second season.
