‘Britain’s Got Talent’ results: Talking Jamie Raven and UDI’s advancement
Wednesday night’s “Britain’s Got Talent” has been the subject of a variety of discussion already, and we imagine that moving forward into Thursday’s, that is only going to continue.
Let’s first talk about Jamie Raven here, given that his performance is being heavily scrutinized over the shoe portion of his trick being figured out by viewers at home. That wasn’t our major issue, since this was more the fault of production, whose job is to keep secrets just that. Instead, we feel like Jamie’s delivery was somewhat off some of the night, with him asking the judges for a word “they’re thinking of,” which was really just a word written on a piece of paper from the audience. Also, he called Alesha Dixon “sir,” which means to us he wasn’t fully in the moment.
Then again, were there really any other acts that deserved to win the night over him? We’re not sure, since this was a particularly weak outing stuffed with too many singers and dancers. The Kingdom Tenors were mostly a victim of Collabro just winning, while the relative lack of singers advancing so far may be an indication of what the British public is feeling at this particular moment.
Electronic dance group UDI received the support of the judges in making it through, and we’re fine with that given that they are very good at what they do. While we do not quite feel anymore that this sort of routine is “innovative” like it used to be four or five years ago, it’s still impressive and the medium allows for some imaginative stories to be told.
