NBC’s ‘The Voice’: What season 8 winner Sawyer Fredericks wants to do next

Sawyer -To us, the win for Sawyer Fredericks on “The Voice” season 8 was never really in too much doubt. This was a guy who consistently showed time and time again a knack for delivering great, emotional performances, and for selling almost all of his tracks on iTunes. It is quite an achievement given that this is just a 16-year old young man from a New York farm, and someone who craves music for art’s sake more than a desire to be a super-famous celebrity.

With that in mind, it really should not come as too much of a surprise that one of the first things Sawyer wants to do is get back in touch with some of his roots. During a mini press tour after winning the season last night, Sawyer claimed (per Us Weekly) that getting back home was one of his top priorities:

“I’m feeling great and I kind of want to get back to the farm just to have a little bit of a break from all of this, so I’m excited to get back home … I do not want to move to L.A.!”

We are not sure whether or not Sawyer has the internal savvy to realize this, but his comments are in many ways playing directly into why so many people do appreciate him in the first place. He’s a humble guy, and someone who is not going to let this experience change him. We are sure that he will begin work on a new album soon, but we hope that in the process it is something that is very clearly done on his own terms.
