NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Koryn Hawthorne, Sawyer Fredericks, Meghan Linsey will perform
Of course, it’s always possible that some things could change at the last minute, but given that the songs below have already leaked to iTunes, we doubt that they are going to in any sort of drastic way.
Sawyer Fredericks
“Please” (original) – According to some commenters over at Mjsbigblog, this is actually an unreleased Ray LaMontagne song. It’s a surprising choice, but who is going to blame Sawyer in their right mind for picking something for a legend like this?
“Old Man” by Neil Young – Very much in Sawyer’s wheelhouse, but we appreciate him choosing a song here that has not been routinely covered elsewhere.
“Summer Breeze” by Seals & Croft – This is the duet with Pharrell. It’s almost a mash-up of Pharrell and Sawyer’s style.
Koryn Hawthorne
“It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” – Sure, she will kill it, but we’re rather bored with this song at this point.
“We Can Work It Out” by the Beatles – This is her duet. It’s a great song, but does it really suit her?
“Bright Fire” – Koryn’s original song. We don’t love the name, and as a whole she probably has some of the weaker songs out of everyone.
Joshua Davis
“Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen – See what we said about “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World” earlier. Rinse and repeat.
“The Workingman’s Hymn” – We like that this is an original song seemingly written and performed by him before the show.
“Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes” by Paul Simon – This is Joshua’s duet with Adam Levine. It’s an obscure track that we’d never heard, and it is a really long song. Good luck with the arrangement on this one.
Meghan Linsey
“When a Man Loves a Woman” by Percy Sledge – Sawyer wins out of the finalists for picking a final cover that is at least remotely original.
“Freeway of Love” by Aretha Franklin – She is actually going to perform Aretha with Blake Shelton rather than a country song. Interesting, no?
“Change My Mind” – This is her original song. Could be good.
