‘Supernatural’ season 11: CW boss wants to do show as long as Jared Padalecki, Jensen Ackles want
The tenth season of “Supernatural” is getting set to come to a conclusion, but let’s be real here: Once you get to this point, everyone starts to assume that you are going to want to pack it in and do something different. Luckily, that has not been the case here, since Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles seem to enjoy playing Sam and Dean, hitting up conventions, and being a part of what is the longest-running genre show of its kind in history.
We do wonder if the guys are happier than ever with the show right now because of subtle, but important, changes. Hiring Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard as regulars has offered them up this season at least a little more time, rather than having to anchor ever scene of the show as they’ve done for some time. Also, we imagine that the crew is a well-oiled machine at this point, and they can get a lot of work done in a small amount of time.
Based on what Mark Pedowitz, otherwise known as the head of The CW’s programming, said at upfronts today, he wants to keep doing the show “as long as the ratings hold and the boys want to do it, we’re in.” He also claims to be a “big fan” and has seen every single episode.
Also worth noting here is that the network is still interested in doing some sort of spin-off show to keep the legacy alive. They previously attempted one with “Bloodlines,” only for it to fall apart quickly due to the story being not entirely interesting. This is a show that will have a rough time with this, given that so much of its DNA lies with its leading men and their chemistry.

It’s a great show, but if it does keep going on and on indefinitely it’s going to fall victim to Simpsons-syndrome, and just become irrelevant. All good things must come to an end sometime, and I know the reason I’ve been sticking with the show for so long is because I want to see how the story that begun ten years ago ends.

Did you just compare Supernatural to the simpsons? You’re kidding right? As long as Supernatural continues it’s high standard for quality content, there’s absolutely no reason why it shouldn’t go on another 10 years. They have a winning formula, with endless possibilities, it would be stupid to end it just for the sake of ending it.

I never said that what Supernatural is comparable to the Simpsons, but there’s no sense in just keeping something going just for the ratings. It makes it harder and harder to maintain an overarching story line over the entire series when the writers have no idea how or when it will end- ultimately that does more harm than good. Taking the first 5 seasons of the show, for example. The content of those seasons are what series creator Eric Kripke envisioned for a complete series, and for the most part if was efficiently planned and executed. Because of the show’s popularity, it kept going beyond that original ending but because the original story was over, future content was basically made up as they went along. Now, because the future of the show is now at the whim of the network and not at the creative liberty of the writers, story lines become brief and have no interconnection, and they have to jump the shark every season by coming up with something new every season that may or may not be the Winchester’s last hunt. In fact, over the last few seasons Supernatural has consistently created more plot holes and continuity errors than any other show I can think of that’s not a cartoon. I still watch it because I still do enjoy the show- but it’s also kind of sad to see what has happened to it because they won’t let it end. So yeah, if the show keeps going indefinitely to no end, there’s no way I can call it anything other than another Simpsons.

Just keep the show going somehow. I know the creators have great ideas but the chemistry between the brothers is essential. All I know is I don’t think any of the fans r going anywhere so maybe the show will go on too. Can I get an amen to long live “SPN”!?

“Hiring Misha Collins and Mark Sheppard as regulars” was a brilliant idea on the showrunners’ part. The chemistry between Jensen, Jared, Misha, and Mark is the stuff of dreams – we definitely have an amazing cast and they work so well together.
As far as spin-offs go, I don’t think Bloodlines worked since it didn’t involve any existing characters. I’d love to see one with Jody and all the girls she’s taken in. A group of bad-a$$ hunter ladies? Yes. And then they could crossover with the main show, too.

Dear God, What I want to see in Supernatural is for the Winchester brothers to go forth boldly, farther and longer than any Creation may ask or imagine. I want to see artistic, descriptive visuals of science magic. How about Evolution, Ghost in the Space Ship, Back to the Future Science Fiction, Dean and Sam Winchester’s grand kids and legacy, spinoffs, love never gives up at the convention, or simply put keep fighting? I want to see Jensen have white hairs on television like Oneil’s white hairs. Will the brothers be given the chance to fast forward time travel, rewind, undo, and restart so they can sit back and fish once in a while? Will they be the hope in Pandora’s box? I would like to watch their love conquers all at least once a week. Thanks.

Supernatural is a great franchise and with the right spin-off, the legacy will live on for years to come! Jensen and Jared are the reason the passion is so high for the show, but that passion can be extended and enhanced in other areas too. The key is chemistry but also the history of the show, the Winchesters, the Campbells, and the Men of Letters. I think a backstory spin-off, centering on the early years of the Men of Letters and incorporating known characters who could pop up, like all the angels and Henry & Josie, could totally work and create all kinds of opportunities for crossovers. Casting is crucial, but Supernatural is known for their brilliant casting! Creating more relatives and exploring the early hunters and the MOL researchers and how they interacted would be quite fascinating. As long as you ground the show with the Winchesters and give us the occasional time-travel ep where Sam & Dean are impacted by the events on the new show, it will resonnate with the fans!

This was what I was thinking as well. a backstory spin off would be best.

I think a spin-off could work, but the right vehicle has to be found. Personally, I’m interested in seeing what Crowley’s son is up to. I think ‘Prince of Hell’ would be amazing.

(This is a show that will have a rough time with this, given that so much of its DNA lies with its leading men and their chemistry.) In that right there is why the spin off won’t work. lol
