‘The Originals’ season 2 finale spoilers: Claire Holt on potential season 3 return
Monday night marks a great chance for Claire Holt to shine on “The Originals,” and that is something that she has done sporadically throughout the course of the second season. For a time, her character of Rebekah was played by someone else in Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who did a pretty good job in her own right and has proved worthy of her own following.
While we know that the odds of Rebekah getting a dagger during the episode are at least reasonably high (just remember what sort of show this is, people!), we do still have to wonder the question: Is it possible that we see Holt back again for season 3? While she is probably not going to be a regular, she does tell Entertainment Weekly that depending on her schedule, returning is something that she still enjoys and would love to do:
“I’d love to! I’m on another show right now, Aquarius, and it’s about to air. Obviously the fate of the show in the future is uncertain, but I would love to be able to do both if possible. Rebekah is so special to me, and anytime I get to go back and visit that world and New Orleans and my family there, I’m on that plane ready to go.”
One thing that is interesting here is comparing Holt’s situation to that of maybe Nina Dobrev on “The Vampire Diaries.” Both actors seemingly want to spread their wings and do some other things, but what is advantageous for Claire is that she is on a show that it is easy for her to pop on and off depending on what is happening. That’s something that really wouldn’t work for Nina, given that Elena is the lead of that show.
We’ll have more on Holt’s return and what it could mean over the weekend, but for now head over here to learn some more about the finale! Also, sign up here to bite into some other TV updates on everything we cover, and courtesy of our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
