‘The Originals’ season 2 finale spoilers: What Claire Holt’s return really means

Rebekah -While we may not be seeing a whole lot of Claire Holt on “The Originals” these days, you can at least rejoice in the fact that you will be seeing more of her come the upcoming season 2 finale Monday night. Through the actions of Klaus, we learned that the character is back in her own body, and for the time being the status of Maisie Richardson-Sellers’ version is somewhat unclear.

For the time being, we can at least tell you that it is at least possible that we will see Richardson-Sellers back again, and Holt is for sure going to be back. The question here is whether or not this is a good thing. In talking about these circumstances to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Michael Narducci had the following to say:

“If Rebekah is in her original bod, she’s a little bit more durable and a little bit less likely to be easily killed in battle … So maybe Klaus wanted her back in that original body to protect her, and to make sure that nothing happened to her. Maybe he did what he did because he wanted to delay her and keep her out of the fight as long as possible. I think it very much, as Rebekah pointed out in last night’s episode, was also a punishment.”

At the same time, however, one of the other issues with Rebekah’s return in this form is that it allows her to be daggered yet again. This is something that Narducci mentions, and so long as Holt is not a series regular on the show, you should be worried about this to a certain extent. Maybe one of the big surprises of the finale will be learning that she is going to return to the show in a major way, but there is nothing that we can say on this for now with confidence.

What we can at least do is share the promo for this episode over here; be sure to check that out! Also, click here to get some other scoop related to “The Originals,” or sign up here to get some other TV news on everything we cover, courtesy of our official CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: The CW.)
