ABC’s ‘Castle’ season 7 finale spoilers: Watch new Stana Katic – Nathan Fillion scene

Since we’re getting a ton of questions about it still, let’s start this “Castle” article with another quick update on what we know at the moment: The show is coming back for an eighth season, David Amann and Andrew Marlowe are seemingly departing, and Nathan Fillion has a new contract. That is all that is confirmed. We hear talk about a shortened final season, but everything else is mere conjecture.

The sneak peek below features Fillion and Stana Katic, so is this one of the last ones you are going to see for the two parties together? We still doubt it. While Stana has not signed a new deal yet, remember this: If she wanted to leave, wouldn’t she have done something similar and announced an exit a la Nina Dobrev? We figure that there will be more information at the ABC upfront presentation next week, if not before.

As for the content of this particular preview, let’s just say that “Hollander’s Woods” is touching on a part of Castle mythology that has been haunting the show almost since the start of the season: What in the world happened to Rick when he was a kid out in the middle of the forest. The events there helped him to become a mystery author, and the flashback we get to that time here is certainly creepy and almost out “The Following” or something.

The real mystery going into this episode could just be how the scenes of the past carry into the present…
