NBC’s ‘The Voice’ spoilers: What Koryn Hawthorne, Joshua Davis, India Carney will sing
Tonight, the top six contestants on “The Voice” are taking on their biggest challenge to date, performing two songs each in an effort to really capture the attention of viewers. Only a handful will move on to the next round, whereas the others will feel a little heartbreak.
Given how important iTunes sales are to your longevity on this show in particular, making sure you pick the right song is a huge part of the equation. Therefore, we’re happy to pass along the song spoilers for this week. Thankfully, there are some good choices in here!
Sawyer Fredericks
“Take Me to the River” – We’re guessing the Al Green song here. Seems about right for Sawyer, and it’s at least not the most predictable song choice.
“Shine On” – This is what we get for writing this article before being able to preview the songs. We know a James Blunt song by this name, but we’d be surprised if that’s what Sawyer is doing.
Joshua Davis
“In My Life” – This has to be the song from the Beatles, right? If so, a supremely smart choice that stands out from most of the Fab Four’s hits.
“Desire” – Maybe this is the Ryan Adams song? We actually like it that we’re left guessing on some of these songs, mostly because it means that the artists are actually trying to pick unique songs.
Meghan Linsey
“Steamroller Blues” – A classic track popularized by Elvis and James Taylor. It should work for her to give her own spin on it.
“Amazing Grace” – Oh, you know what Blake Shelton is doing here. Appealing to the religious crowd with a classic hymn that can be done in a country / soul style. This is similar to Craig Wayne Boyd and “The Old Rugged Cross.”
India Carney
“Glory” – If she’s doing the John Legend / Common song, that is GUTS. We’ll give her all the credit in the world, since it’s not an easy song to do. Also, what will she do with the Common lines?
“Lay Me Down” – We’re thinking it’s the Sam Smith song. India has our favorite one-two punch of anyone so far. Powerful songs that are also current.
Kimberly Nichole
“Free Fallin'” – Tom Petty? We’re a little surprised by this, but maybe Kimberly knows something here that we don’t. With the right arrangement, this could be awesome.
“Dirty Diana” – One of the lesser-known hits from Michael Jackson. The concern here for Kimberly is that she’s doing two older songs, but her voice can make anything sound great.
Koryn Hawthorne
“Everybody Hurts” – As you are about to see, Koryn is swinging for the fences with her songs this week. Either she completely kills them, or she faces an uphill battle getting into the next round.
“Dream On” – Let’s just put it this way: After Amanda Brown, we are not sure anyone performing this song is a good idea. It’s just so challenging to try!
