‘Arrow’ season 3, episode 20 reaction: On that Oliver, Felicity hookup, what lies ahead
Yes, “Arrow” fans, the moment has finally happened: Oliver and Felicity have taken that next big step in their relationship! It’s only been years in the making at this point, and we also have to thank the writers for having her break up with Ray Palmer first. This keeps her a likable character, since it would have been not-so-great to see her cheat especially since it’s not really in her character to do so… even for Oliver.
One of the things that Felicity is going to have to wrestle with at the end of tonight’s episode is if there is actual hope for her and Oliver again, and what she can do in order to be the catalyst for that change. As for her and Ray, though, there is no turning back. Speaking to E! News, executive producer Marc Guggenheim had the following to say about how much interaction they are going to have moving forward:
“They’re pretty well and truly kiboshed … I will say they do have a very meaningful exchange in episode 22, but we’re not going to do an off-again-on-again-off-again thing with them. Romantically, this is where we leave them, but their scene in 22, regardless of who you ship or whatever and people’s feelings about Ray and Felicity, there’s a lot of chemistry between Brandon and Emily, even when they’re broken up.”
We definitely imagine that there will be more great stuff coming with Oliver and Felicity before the end of the season, but the writers could be doing something rather tricky to us until then. We had no real romance for the characters, then we had a ton of romance tonight. What happens if we don’t have any more for a while? It could be torture for some after what we just saw!
