‘The Following’ season 3 spoilers: All about Joe Carroll’s execution day

There are many crazy things that have taken place on “The Following” over the years, and one thing specifically that we have learned here is that Joe Carroll is quite possibly the worst person to ever have nine lives. No matter what happens, nothing ever seems to kill the guy! It is for that reason that we are still not entirely confident that the man will die despite having an execution day ahead of him. Crazier things have happened on this show, after all, than this guy managing to find a way out of this.

Of course, you are not going to get a chance to find out the truth here for at least a little while. Speaking on this subject to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Alexi Hawley passed along the following message:

“I will say that his execution day episode will be completely unexpected and very shocking.”

We are going to take a “we’ll believe it when we see it” strategy when it comes to Joe, but for now the one thing we very much do feel is that there has to be some resolution here one way or another by the end of the season. Just remember that to use a superhero analogy, he is in many ways the Joker to Ryan Hardy’s Batman. For some reason, these two just continue to keep duking it out, and will probably keep doing so for as long as the show lasts … but that may not be much longer, based on some of the ratings.
