‘The Big Bang Theory’ season 8 spoilers: Christine Baranski, Laurie Metcalfe returning

Is “The Big Bang Theory” planning some sort of Mother’s Day episode? It’s possible, given that we are about to see for the very first time Christine Baranski and Laurie Metcalfe actually in a scene together at the same time.

According to TVLine, the two actresses will be appearing during the penultimate episode of season 8 airing this May. While their characters of Leonard and Sheldon’s mothers will share a scene, it is not 100% clear yet if Baranski will actually appear in the flesh. Due to her commitments on “The Good Wife,” many of her appearances have been done via Skype over the years. That show films in New York, whereas the sitcom films in the Los Angeles area.

Regardless of the circumstances, we’re still interested in seeing more of these two characters. Of course, this does not take away from the fact that we still would love to see Penny’s mother on the series at some point. We have heard about her from time to time, and while we’ve met her father, there has not been another circumstance that has brought her around in-person. The only way that we could really see this happening at this point would be if Leonard and Penny were to get married. That will probably happen, but we do not get a big sense that this is something that is in the cards for this season.

The next new episode of the CBS show is slated to air Thursday night, though there has not been much made or said about it for the time being. Hopefully, that will change soon, and we’ll have more news for you when it does.
