‘Big Brother Canada 3’ interview: Naeha Sareen on frustrations, being a target, and … working with Graig?
Naeha Sareen showed herself to be both a big fan of “Big Brother Canada,” and also someone very much invested in playing the game. Unfortunately, there are instances where being so competitive can hurt you, and it did here as soon as the Chop Shop and Kevin each realized that she was a big threat. Kevin eventually did change his mind about wanting to target her, but it was after making his nominations and there was nothing he could do about it. Curse the instant eviction twist!
We did get a chance briefly to discuss all sorts of subjects with Naeha, and she was great in giving us a ton of information in a very short amount of time. Just a quick reminder for those of you who are reading one of our interviews for the first time: We are only able to ask questions that are specific to what the particular houseguests knows, due to the twist involving the first five booted from the game. Also, we are limited in the overall number of questions.
CarterMatt – Are you particularly frustrated to be evicted without getting to play Veto?
It’s the worst feeling in the world. I’m a huge, massive fan of this show and this game. Before coming in my worst feeling was being the first person to be evicted. This is worse! To me I feel this would actually be worse. If you are the first person evicted, you at least have a chance [potentially] to fight for the Veto, and to have a chance to campaign. For me, I didn’t get that, and I honestly feel like if I had a chance to play for Veto I could’ve pulled it off, or if I had the ability to campaign for my life in the game, I could have saved myself. This is the toughest pill that I could possible [swallow].
You know that feeling like when your love of your life breaks up with you, and you have that sinking feeling in your chest that goes all the way down to your stomach, like that complete and utter pain? That is what I am feeling right now. It’s horrendous.
Was there a moment when you first saw yourself becoming a target in the game?
Absolutely! Day one, bro! Right when I was told I was playing in the Veto, I was in the position where I had to fight in the Veto just because there was so much unknown going on. I didn’t know how the replacement nominee would work. In my head I was thinking if either Sindy or Risha take themselves off the block, I could very well end up going on the block and doing home. You remember Big Brother 14 Jodi went on the block and went home, and I was thinking that [producers] are coming out, guns blazing on the game this year. They may take someone out the first day.
My logic was that I had to play hard in the Veto because I don’t want [either Risha or Sindy] to win the Veto, essentially; at the same time I wanted to throw the competition because I saw that the comp was a very physical comp which it was. I have battle scars still like crazy. I saw that the three guys in Bobby, Kevin, in Zach, I thought that one of those guys was going to take it! I thought I would have the opportunity to play hard, and one of the other guys would win so that the nominations would stay the same.
But, if you saw the comp, they were doing well but I really had to hustle because it was such a crapshoot that one of the girls might have won, and Sindy ended up winning. At that point, we still didn’t know who the replacement nominee would be. I just assumed it would be the third person who had the highest votes, and I was worried that it might have been me based on the fact that two pretty girls in Risha and Sindy got nominated, and maybe that was the consensus in the house to target girls first … I thought they may have looked and me and said ‘hey, look at this girl. She should go on the block.’ I really didn’t want the nominees to stay the same, and while it worked out because Sindy chose Pilar, nobody really knew [what would happen].
That target was put on my back after I played hard in that Veto, and after I played in the Veto the first few comments that came out of people’s mouths, [someone] said ‘oh my God, you are the Canadian Janelle’ or something along those lines. Then someone else said ‘oh, you’re Neda.’ They really didn’t know much about me at that point other than my appearance, the black hair and the dark skin. From then on out, Graig and Willow would say almost every single day on purpose ‘oh hey, Neda. Oh, I’m sorry. Naeha.’ That was their tactic to kind of put it into everyone else’s heads that this person was a threat.
Is there a player you wish you had aligned with?
I had aligned with everyone I absolutely wanted to align myself with; there is no one else I would have wanted to. Going forward in the game if I do get back in the house, I may make some changed. I have to change up my game somehow! I may go for something that is very unlikely.
For example, you know I’m at odds with Graig. I don’t like the guy, he doesn’t like me. He was out for my blood, and I guess he got it … It might be beneficial for my game not to take him out, to work with him and stay close with him until the end, or if I’m at a point where I can go to the end, take him to the end. Who’s going to give this kid the money? He would be a good person to the final two with.
So, you know what? We’ll see what happens? If I go back in the house, there are going to be some changes. I would probably want to keep some of the alliances that I had prior to, because I don’t have any bitterness … I know that some people had to evict me because they don’t want to expose an allegiance to me. I completely understand that.

I hate the instant eviction twist. I get Big Brother is not always a fair game but she didn’t get a chance to play for the veto. What was worse is that Kevin had to make his nominations straight away, so she didn’t even get a chance to campaign! Once she hit the wrong button in the HOH comp her fate was sealed. I really hope she comes back with the twist!!
