Is ‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 19 new tonight? New ‘Chicago Med’ pilot photo

Chicago Med -Once again, we come bearing bad news tonight for fans of “Chicago Fire“: There is no new episode airing on NBC. As for a little bit of a silver lining, we can tell you that we are just a week out now from “I Am the Apocalypse,” the episode that is eventually going to spawn the spin-off “Chicago Med” if the critical reaction is strong and the ratings are solid.

Sadly, this is not an easy episode to really scoop or discuss beforehand, mostly because we know almost nothing about the new characters, and the photo attached here doesn’t give a whole lot away, either. This is mostly just a reminder that there is an ambulance at a hospital. Go figure! There are some slightly-more-revealing photos out there, but without context, what does it really matter? What matters most for this spin-off pilot right now is the story, which resolves around a dire situation at the hospital where a grenade-toting madman could cause death and destruction in the blink of an eye. As if this did not make for an insane enough situation, the hospital is going to be slammed with victims of a chemical leak, who were assisted and brought there by the Chicago FD.

We should learn whether or not the new show is picked up come May, and we’ve already expressed some of our personal fears about the series already. There are just so many medical dramas out there, and do we need to see more of Dick Wolf’s Chicago? What else can the show bring to us that we don’t already have? We’ll give it a chance to see if the performances blow us away; that may be its best chance of getting on the air in the fall.

We should have some sneak peeks and more for the episode early next week, so check back for that!
