‘Battle Creek’ season 4 preview: Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters, and more from the police dogs!
Has there been a crime show in the past fifteen years to emphasize police dogs as much as “Battle Creek“? If so, it’s hard to think of them offhand. This is one of many things that we’re starting to like about this show. There are many mysteries that Russ (Dean Winters) and Milt (Josh Duhamel) are solving within the town every week, but there is also a mystery existing beyond that: Russ figuring out why in the world he is specifically in town. Add the dogs to this, and you have a very fun Sundays-at-10 show!
“Heirlooms” is the title for next week’s new episode, and unfortunately the synopsis does not connect too much to the story we know at the moment:
“Russ and Milt pit the crime-solving skills of their police dogs against each other as they work to solve the murder of a local waitress. Meanwhile, Russ tries a new tactic to get Milt to admit what brought him to Battle Creek.”
Given that we are only four episodes into the season, there’s still plenty of time for this show to evolve. This is why we wish a network like CBS would just give it a two-season commitment, given the producers and the cast involved here. This show has already shown potential in three episodes, and it could be so much more. Unfortunately, it just may not get the exposure it needs right now to stick around. We’ll have to see what the numbers are at some point tomorrow.
