‘Battle Creek’ episode 3 preview: Dog days for Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters
Within three episodes of “Battle Creek” season 1, the biggest thing that has become fairly clear to us is that this is a story that is full of a variety of different twists and turns on the standard cop show. One of those is rumor, and also constant reminders that Milt Chamberlain and Russ Agnew are not necessarily perfect cops in the perfect town.
Most of the extended preview below for Sunday’s new episode “Man’s Best Friend” focuses on the lighter side of things in the Michigan town, including how sometimes, “getting the guy” does not necessarily mean that you’ve secured the right guy. In turn, this means you get into some more trouble with the powers that be.
Two episodes in, and the show has plenty of promise. Josh Duhamel and Dean Winters are plenty of fun, and the show is trying to come up with cases that have not been done a million times already. We always appreciate that regardless of anything else. For example, the police dog Cookie is going to be one of the key players on this upcoming episode! It’s simply a shame they are not included more in the promo.
As for the one thing we are still hoping to see from the show, that is pretty simple to identify: More when it comes to the ratings. This show is experiencing the same sort of struggles that both “CSI” and “The Mentalist” had in this timeslot: It’s tough to attract viewers late on a Sunday, especially without a dominant lead-in coming on the hour before.
