‘Downton Abbey’ season 6: Lily James reflects on journey towards becoming ‘Cinderella’
Do we think that Lily James is done on “Downton Abbey” completely? Not necessarily, but it does appear to be fairly clear that you are going to be seeing a little bit less of her throughout the upcoming sixth season of the show. Production has already started in England on the upcoming episodes, but she is busy traveling around the world and promoting her breakthrough big-screen role in the live-action adaptation of “Cinderella.”
Regardless of what her future holds with the series, though, one thing appears to very much remain the same: She is going to be eternally grateful for everything that she was able to do as a result of the series. Speaking per UPI about the opportunity that has come her way with this movie, she explained that she really owed it all to Julian Fellowes and company:
“I think it just has changed everything in a way … Not in ways that people would expect, of like lifestyle or being recognized, because I’m quite anonymous from that show. I don’t really get [recognized,] especially not in England. But it’s changed my life in that I really, really don’t think I would’ve got Cinderella if it hadn’t been for Downton. I think that show enabled me to be seen for more. And that’s what you really want, as an actor, to be able to be seen for stuff. And it gives you that kind of profile that you can be. And, so, I’m so grateful.”
For those who do not know, one funny part about the movie is that Sophie McShera, who plays maid Daisy on the show, is actually one of the wicked stepsisters in the movie. This means that she actually gets a chance to boss Lily around on-set for a change after being one of the servants for so long.
