‘The 100’ season 3 spoilers: Richard Harmon promoted to series regular

Even though season 2 of “The 100” may have just ended, the series on The CW is already starting to look towards the future in a pretty significant way.

Want to see some further proof when it comes to that? Then look at some of the latest news. In a post on Twitter, executive producer Jason Rothenberg confirmed last night that actor Richard Harmon, who plays John Murphy on the series, will be a series regular for the first time in season 3. Given that he has had a more significant role as time has went on during the show, this cannot be a surprise to anyone. It gives you a sense that production really values him, and are willing to make that commitment in order to ensure that he is not going anywhere at the end of the day.

The third season of “The 100” is of course still a good way away. As a matter of fact, we don’t personally feel like they are even close to filming right now. This casting is more than anything else just a preemptive move to ensure that he is locked in, and you get at least a partial idea of where the show is actually heading. We feel like it is possible that the show premieres again in October, but would not be that surprised, either, if it is held until midseason. Since this is not a show that runs a full 22-episode season, there is a little more flexibility here. Two of the factors that could play a role in this include the success of “iZombie” and also what The CW thinks about some of its new pilots, which include an “Arrow” / “The Flash” spin-off series.
