Oscars 2015: Lady Gaga performs ‘Sound of Music’ medley for 50th anniversary
While we’ve already went through some of the performances at the Oscars that managed to compete in the Best Song category, what we had tonight with Lady Gaga was something completely different … and unexpected. The last thing that we expected to hear from her was a performance of the songs from “The Sound of Music.” We knew that she could sing, but with that sort of range? We really had no idea about that.
It’s really hard to think about what someone would not like about this particular performance of the song, since for the most part, it was a perfect tribute to the movie. Gaga reined in some of her typical theatrics, and focused more on delivering the songs in a way that Julie Andrews would have most likely appreciated. As a matter of fact, she got to be there to show her appreciation in person! That was an exceptionally great moment on the show, since we saw Andrew come out and embrace her before sharing the Original Song nominees.
What did you think about Gaga’s take on all of these songs? Let us know.

I was never a Lady Gaga fan; too much theatrics. But her recent recordings of standards and now her performance tonite…She has an incredible voice and range; who knew? She is an artist.
