‘Shameless’ season 5, episode 7 preview: Jimmy wants Fiona to leave with him

The moment that Jimmy / Steve / whatever you want to call him showed up on “Shameless” season 5, you knew that there was going to be trouble. Specifically, you probably knew that Fiona was going to have a very hard time handling this. Since she has not exactly been able to deal with him being around her in the past, why would you expect that to change now?

Also, nobody is better at sending mixed signals than Emmy Rossum’s character when it comes to him. In the sneak peek below from Sunday night’s new episode (make that a week from Sunday, curse the Oscars!), you can see the two parties having a very important conversation. For some reason, she is acting like he should go and meet her husband of all people. Meanwhile, his mind is occupied with trying to find ways to convince her that running away with him to Dubai is actually a good idea, like she has no other feelings or responsibilities in the world that she should be thinking about.

Could Fiona really break Gus’ heart? We’re not putting it past her, but we also have a very tough time imagining her actually departing the show in any way. After all, you just have to remember here that Rossum is one of the biggest stars of the show, while Justin Chatwin just returned, and it is very well possible that he could leave again.

Maybe we’ll get a decision and a resolution to all this in this episode. If not, we assume that it will come before the end of the season.
