‘Chicago Fire’ season 3, episode 14 review: Chief Boden heartbreak; Dawson protects a baby
Tonight’s “Chicago Fire” season 3 episode was definitely all sorts of intense, and it contained at least two more occasions of major characters in peril.
First, we start with Dawson, whose attempts to protect a child led to a gun being pointed in her face. We learned later that this child was actually kidnapped, and the woman who snagged her was suffering with some sort of mental illness. Police eventually picked her up somewhere else, but not before Casey at least had to think about what his life would be like of his ex was not in it. It doesn’t seem like they are getting together anytime soon, though; Severide convinced him to get back out in the dating pool, and he did at the very end of the episode.
Elsewhere, Mills was in trouble for about the tenth time this season (slight exaggeration), and Brett was right there with them. This was more of a standard winter-fueled rescue mission, and one that eventually worked out in their favor. Here’s a clue: We would be shocked after the death of Shay if ANYONE is killed the rest of the season of importance.
Finally, we turn to Boden, who will need to take a little time away from the team. Why? In the most devastating moment of the episode, he found out at the end of his luau party that his father was dead. This was devastating, and that is just putting it mildly. He was just trying to live out his life the way that he wanted, and had no idea that he would be taken so soon. A very sad end to what was a strong episode as a whole. Grade: B+.
