‘The Mentalist’ season 7 spoilers: See Jane, Lisbon in ‘Byzantium’
We are just a week and a half away at this point from the series finale of “The Mentalist,” and we have to admit right now that this is a heck of a scary thought. How much are we going to miss this show? Think more than Jane loves being clever and anti-authority during some of his cases.
On Wednesday night’s “Byzantium,” you should expect to see the story pick up not that far away from where it left off, which is with Jane starting to seriously wonder as to whether or not he can really continue to work with the FBI while worrying constantly about Lisbon’s fate. The story of this episode is simple enough: The FBI needs him to gauge whether or not a “psychic” is being truthful, or could be behind a series of potential killings. Whatever the reason is, it does feel like the bureau does enough to convince Jane to come back. The attached photo is proof of that.
Will he change his philosophy at some point before we get to the end of this episode? What we can tell you right now, based on information that CBS has released, is that we are going to see both Rigsby and Van Pelt in the series finale. Not only that, but it has also been confirmed that Simon Baker and Robin Tunney’s characters are at least planning a wedding. Suffice it to say, there is a whole lot to look forward to when it comes to the final episodes. Keep some tissues nearby, because we feel that you will need them.

I am so very happy that Wayne and Grace will be back! I really really miss them!! It will be great to see the five of them together again! Maybe they will be back to help Cho deal with Vega’s death. I hope they are at least back for what I hope is a Jane and Lisbon wedding. Perhaps their kids could be the ring bearer and flower girl for the wedding if they have that kind of wedding. It will be interesting to see how everything is played out. I hope we get some real settling of Jane and Lisbon’s conflict over his fear of her dangerous job and her total lack of understanding of how he feels and how hard it is on him. I hope he finally takes off the wedding ring from his deceased wife and puts on a new one from Teresa. I would love to learn more about Jane’s past. More about his childhood, his father, and his mother and how that all shaped him. Maybe Teresa should go talk to his carny friends to learn more about him. I don’t know how they can possibly fit in all I would love to see and still find time to solve crimes in just three more episodes. Oh how I am going to miss this show!!! It is the only drama on TV I care about watching. I just love Jane, Lisbon, and Cho. And I still love Rigsby and VanPelt. So sad it is coming to an end!!!!!!!!

Two of those pics are not from this episode. They are from 7.5, ‘The Briefcase’.
Really; not only did he leave but he looks freakin happy about it? I’m so irritated about that and even though we know Jisbon get married it still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. I get he’s afraid for Lisbon but to leave her AGAIN was so wrong. And on top of that HE STILL HAS HIS FREAKIN WEDDING RING ON! You profess your love, Teresa steps out on faith and he actually leaves! If this turns out to be a situation where at some point during this case something happens where Jane is jolted into realizing he was wrong and proposes that would be sooooo unfulfilling for me. Because to me the notion would be that it was a case needing Jane’s attention that brought him back and not Teresa. I keep picturing when he told Teresa he was leaving how it looked her knees were going to buckle. I HOPE IM WRONG.

I agree with you totally. Read your comment and was exactly what I was thinking. How can Lisbon ever trust him again if he really leaves like this? It seems totally implausible that it would go from him flipping out and leaving – to her agreeing to marry him once he has a change of heart (brought on by the FBI forcing him to work a case or maybe himself seeing his life at risk). It will be very disappointing and lame. The pictures suggest he’s on the road and happy about it, and gets arrested and sent back to the FBI – maybe Abbott can do this because of the 5 year deal PJ signed last season. Anyways-perhaps I”m reading these ‘spoiler previews’ wrong (I can only hope so as I”m very negative at this point!) — but considering the old photos they tried to put as 7.11 that are really 7.5 and that the sneak peaks don’t show Lisbon at all, makes me think there is no Jisbon this episode! Perhaps the spoiler synopsis about a proposal/wedding is because they know the Jisbon fans will be totally up in arms over the next few episodes and tempted to turn off the TV!!!!

I am not sure why Lisbon should suddenly not trust Jane. He told her he had to leave and invited her to come with him. I did not see it as a permanent goodbye just that he needed to get a way and I think that could happen to anyone after such horrible event. He didn’t just up and leave without telling her. They are at a crossroads but I think it is possible for them to work it out. For all we know in the next episode maybe we will see she decided to go with him.

I do hope you are right! I have a bad feeling about it, but perhaps you are right and the photos/sneak peaks are leaving out something good for us (shippers) all!

He did invite her to come with him. I didn’t get the feeling he was leaving for good, just that he needed to get away and go somewhere nice. I can understand needing to get away after such an emotional event. She decided it didn’t feel right to her for them to go on their romantic and lovely get a way. Which I also understand. But wouldn’t it have been nice to go somewhere and find comfort in each others arms. But Lisbon didn’t even offer Jane a hug or get down beside him when she found him in the cemetery. They clearly are at a crossroads but I think they will work it out. They need to understand each other better. I love Patrick Jane but I think it is clear that he is a selfish person whether Lisbon can live with that and still love him is up to her.

I will be back to see Rigsby and Van Pelt. Hope it more than a Wedding visit.
