‘Red Band Society’ season 2: What could have been … and what is
Tonight on Fox, we have the opportunity to say farewell to a show in “Red Band Society” that really entered the fall season with a heck of a lot of promise. This was an emotional, heartfelt journey into the lives of young people in a hospital, and as the season went along, it started to become more and more clear just what the writers and the actors were capable of.
Unfortunately, this is the sort of thing that has become a sad reality for new shows as of late. It tends to take a couple of weeks to really get going, and then by then, most of the viewers have left and the network is not being as supportive as they should be. For this show, that bums us out. Octavia Spencer has always been great, and Astro has blossomed into a pretty strong actor after being on “The X Factor” many years ago.
Originally, we know that the studio and the producers did everything that they could to try to save this series after it was more or less canceled by Fox and moved to Wednesday nights. Part of this included them deciding to try to shop the show around to a few other networks, but there wasn’t a party that was able to offer them precisely what they were hoping for.
A second season would have been able to give us more insight into the characters, their recoveries, and maybe even their hopes for the future. With this being said, we know that this was probably a hard show to keep up long-term; even for long-term care facilities, there are many characters coming and going. Also, these kids are going to get older very quickly.
In the end, we suppose that we should just be grateful for these 13 episodes, and the fact that Fox at least decided to see the series through. There are many other shows that did not even receive that luxury. Given the aforementioned age of the cast, it’s also going to be hard for them to come back a few years down the road if they did ever want to give this a second kick at the can.
What do you think that you are going to miss the most about this show? Let us know right now with a comment.

They could have continued to see what the boy in the coma was going to go through as he woke up. And how they dealt with each other as they got better or worse as the episodes went on. I loved this show and wish it would have had a better chance. (Yes for a love of the show I can’t remember the kid in the coma’s name which I know is bad)

I am so saddened that this show is getting cancelled. This show has depth, meaning and deals with real life issues and problems. I could not wait for each new episode. Cancel the dozens of other shows out there that are stupid and raunchy. Not this one!

I am in LOVE with Red Band Society and have actually cried because of it. This show is amazing and actually shows the viewers the hardships of illnesses. Don’t cancel this show plenty of people love this show. All of the Actors and Actresses on this show are AMAZING and they help bring all of the drama and emotion alive. Red Band Society should stay and since season 1 ended with a cliffhanger that is the perfect topic/subject to use for SEASON 2, so Red Band Society should absolutely NOT be cancelled

fix it don’t cancel it. The show has touched an area no one has gone before. I agree the
hormones flowing shows over the girl was lame. the last three shows were going where this series needs to go. There isn’t always a happy ending, but the struggle along the way
is the true story. The friendships that form , the stress and on the patient, family, friends
and staff, the joy in the moments of success, the sadness and reality when a friend or loved one losses the battle. This is real, happening everyday .
Don’t cancel this show

I am heart broken. There is more to The Red Band Story! They left it with a cliffhanger that could be and should be season 2! I watch this show every week with my family and it hits home for us. We’ve both laughed and cried during this show and we’ve felt like we were actually there. This series needs to be renewed! #RedBandSociety #RedBandSocietySeasonTwo #RenewRedBandSociety

Absolutely heartbroken. I feel that although glamorized, there is a story that needs to be told about all of the thousands of kids who are fighting life threatening illnesses. The dynamic of RBS is very dramatic but that is to keep various audiences engaged. I am a 28 year old working professional who although is probably not the target audience, could really invest myself into the show. Going to miss my Octavia fix.
