‘The Today Show’ lands Jamie Dornan interview, week of ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ coverage
Why not spend a minute or two talking about two things that seemingly do not go together at all? On one side of the coin, we have “The Today Show,” which is supposedly meant to be for a wide audience to enjoy. Then, we’ve also got “Fifty Shades of Grey.” This is meant for only very mature people to enjoy, though we do very much get the sense that the movie verson is going to be watered down extensively so that it could get that R rating.
This week, the NBC show is planning to feature new clips from the movie (obviously the safe for morning TV viewers), and will also have interviews with stars Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan alongside author E.L. James. TV fans should know the actors well already; Dornan was the star of “The Fall” and has appeared on “Once Upon a Time,” while Johnson was briefly the lead on Fox’s funny comedy “Ben & Kate.”
This is without a doubt a big get for “Today,” but as we say this we are still not entirely sure that this movie is going to do that well in theaters. We feel like so much of the book fandom came out of it being a guilty pleasure and so taboo, that you read this without really admitting it to everyone. Watching a story that hot and heavy with a hundred-plus other people around actually sounds like a pretty awkward experience.
