‘Gotham’ episode 14 video: What happens to Edward Nygma?

At the start of “Gotham,” we were pretty clear when it comes to our opinions on the Edward Nygma character: Something was getting a little bit lost in translation. He was spending way too much time referencing what he was going to become, and the show was often ignoring the simplicity of what he should be in the present. Ultimately, it became rather frustrating, given that he was capable of much more than we were seeing.

However, over time the writers / producers have done a much better job when it comes to upping the creep factor here, and making this man truly into someone who we are intrigued with. He has the capacity for love, but what he seems to lack is the understanding of how other people work. No one wants to play his games, and really get to know him beyond the work.

After watching the season, it is easy to tell why he ends up becoming a foe rather than a friend, and the newest sneak peek is another example of that. Nygma is so aloof that it is hard to really imagine anyone being that close to him, and as a result of his latest action, he is suspended from the force.

Is this the last that we are going to see of him in this role? We suppose that it’s possible, but it is definitely not the end of his story. Sooner or later, this man will inch ever closer to becoming the Riddler.
