‘Rizzoli & Isles’ season 5: Latest promo video plays up the fun
The more that we are seeing right now of the “Rizzoli & Isles” promotional material for the second half of season 5, the more one thing is becoming very clear to us: This is a show that really wants to emphasize fun above all else. At the moment, we understand why. The show had to say farewell to Frost in the first half of the season, and then also had Jane lose her baby. That’s a lot of sadness over a batch of episodes, especially when you remember that this is a show with a component of humor in it.
Luckily, it feels like we are going to see the TNT series really go back to some of that in the second half of the season, whether it be during cases, road trips, or antics while at the fun range. The promo below carefully showcases the friendship between Sasha Alexander and Angie Harmon’s characters, and also how friendship remains one of the key components of the series. It is also what makes it stand out from the other billion or so crime procedurals on the air.
You’ve been patient for a long time to see these episodes, and luckily, we are not really that far away anymore. The final episodes of this season start on February 17. The irony here is that there is just about as much space between this and the first half of the season as there will be between these episodes and the start of next season.
As soon as there is some more news to report, we will have it for you here. Stay tuned!

Since Jan Nash took over as showrunner, R&I has gradually become more of a sitcom. This crime show should go back to its roots. Dump “Ma” Rizzoli and get serious.

Jan Nash has only been in charge for the last year. This show has been a sitcom for the past 5 years. Janet Tamaro never tried to make it a crime show, either. But it has nothing to do with Tamaro or Nash. This is what TPTB want and this is what the showrunners give them.
