‘Beauty and the Beast’ season 3 spoilers: Will there be proper closure?
Are the writers of “Beauty and the Beast” creating their season finale to be a series finale? It’s a worthy question at the moment, given that the show’s ratings are not through the roof, and there was a general surprise across the TV / media community when it was renewed in the first place. A happy surprise, but still.
We feel like show costume designer Catherine Ashton really answers this question about as well as she can on Twitter, saying that there is something definitive from the finale, but also some sort of potential cliffhanger for the future. Isn’t this precisely what you want with this show? We feel like it is. This is not the sort of show that needs to tie together every loose end; just give us as viewers enough to know that there is a reasonable end to the story just in case we don’t have another season on the way.
The third season is, at least per early estimates, going to feature Cat and Vincent’s relationship, and how they manage to make what they have work despite the obvious roadblocks. The show is shifting somewhat away from the theme of the past two seasons, which revolved a little bit more around whether or not they were going to get together in the first place. That was fun, but we do enjoy this new direction very much. After two years of the same thing, it’s nice for something new.
