‘Faking It’ season 2: One Direction rumor trends across Twitter
Is it possible that One Direction could really be appearing on the MTV show “Faking It“? At the moment, social media seems to really want you to think that way. #1DOnFakingIt became a trending topic on Friday afternoon, which of course led to a rampant amount of speculation.
Well, we’ve looked into this, and if this is really happening, the network is hiding it very well. There’s no real news about this taking place, and for now, it appears to just be a rumor started up by some fans with some PhotoShop skills. A fake MTV tweet is one of the sources of information, whereas another is a doctored news site made to look like one of the British tabloids. Neither one can be verified. Also, consider scheduling for a minute. “Faking It” is currently filming in Santa Monica, California. Meanwhile, Liam Payne was spotted just yesterday at a basketball game in London. They also have a huge world tour that they are currently preparing for, and that requires a ton of rehearsal time.
We do understand in many ways why “Faking It” and 1D would still be a perfect combination, though. It is a show with a dedicated fan following, and also one that featured a group with an “X Factor” connection in Fifth Harmony earlier this season, albeit in a small role. The two audiences actually do align.
Perhaps the better way to think about this trending topic if you are a fan of “Faking It” is as a hope that maybe someone out there in the MTV world will see the trend, and try to make something happen.
For now, though, we would say not to hold your breath, but there will be other good stuff coming on “Faking It” when the show returns to MTV come later this spring.
