‘Person of Interest’ season 4 spoilers: Boss speaks further on Sarah Shahi decision
“Person of Interest” is not necessarily a show that is everyone’s cup of tea, but we do give them quite a bit of credit today for one thing above all else: They are a show that definitely takes some risks. How else do you fully explain what happened here on this past episode with the Shaw character?
If you had not heard earlier in the week, the decision to write out the character, and possibly kill her off, is tied to actress Sarah Shahi’s pregnancy, and was something that was mutually decided upon. With that being said, executive producer Jonathan Nolan makes it clear that in coming to this decision, losing Shaw actually took care of a need the producers had to do something shocking. Just take a look at what he had to say to TVLine:
“We knew we were going to kill a character off this season, and had started soliciting bribes from the actors… but Sarah was willing to take one for the team … It’s always great to have an opportunity, as we did last season with Carter, to build around a major event in the middle of the season. On so many shows, for so many years, nothing happens. You check in on your kind of ‘surrogate family,’ and everything’s nice — ‘Hey, there’s cousin Marv! ‘There’s the wacky neighbor!’ But we’re just not making that show, so any excuse for mayhem is seized upon.”
As for if Shaw is completely done, much of it is probably going to be up to if the show is renewed, and to go along with that, whether or not there is a reason to bring back the Shaw character for another ride. Shahi also has to be interested still. Ultimately, this is probably something that is going to be figured out many weeks down the road.

I want the end of Samaritan. Tired of this story line and want it back to the way it was. Don’t like them being in the weak position.
