‘Agent Carter’ premiere will play host to Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’ teaser trailer
How badly does Marvel want you to check out their limited series “Agent Carter“? We think that they have made that pretty official today.
In the video below, you can see the announcement from the comic-book giant that during the premiere episode on ABC Tuesday night, the network will run the first teaser trailer for the upcoming feature film “Ant-Man.” Basically, they are making a teaser to a teaser at this point. Then again, can you really blame them? Given the success of every single superhero feature film they have put out as of late, there is no reason to think this will be anything other than a hit.
Also, there’s a clever bit of promotion for the movie in this video, as well, showing you some tiny scenes from the movie … and we are being literal when we say “tiny.” In a nod to Ant-Man himself, the sequences you see are almost impossible to watch. Even if you blow up the video, it’s still not easy.
Did “Agent Carter” really need the added help of promotion? It’s possible. While the movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are smash hits, “Agents of SHIELD” has struggled in its second season. Much of the problem with that show is mostly that they struggled right out of the gate during season 1, and it was very hard for them to recover. We see “Agent Carter” launching a little bit better than “Agents of SHIELD” has performed as of late, but we wouldn’t be shocked if the two are around the same numbers at about the time the series comes to a close in January. (“SHIELD” returns with new episodes on Tuesday, March 3.)
What do you think about this teaser: A brilliant marketing strategy, or a pure annoyance? Regardless, we want to hear your thoughts now! Also, sign up to transmit some TV news to your inbox via our CarterMatt Newsletter. (Photo: ABC.)
