‘New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly’ 2015: Blake Shelton performs ‘Neon Light’
We’ll give NBC a whole lot of credit: They really know how to promote their own properties. While they have done a questionable job helping previous winners of “The Voice” start up their careers, they have really hit it out of the park when it comes to the coaches.
For more on that, you don’t have to look any further than the lineup on “New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly” this year. After all, the show included not only Blake Shelton, but also Pharrell Williams and Gwen Stefani for a duo performance.
As for Blake, he was in more familiar waters, performing “Neon Light” with his band. New Year’s Eve is always an interesting gig to do, given that unless you are pre-taping, you are typically performing to people who are either drunk, exhausted, or really have no idea what your music is supposed to sound like. It’s not your typical crowd, and it doesn’t help if you are performing in New York City in the freezing cold.
Luckily, you are not going to be waiting too long from here to see more of Blake on NBC. The latest season of the singing competition is going to be premiering in February, and for the most part, the coaching lineup will be familiar. Christina Aguilera is the only change to this year’s show, and she has been there before. Specifically, she will be taking the spot of Gwen.
While Blake’s long-term future on “The Voice” is unclear, this show has done quite a bit opening him up to mainstream viewers. Therefore, we always figure he will be a part of the show family.
What did you think about Blake’s performance? As always, let us know in the comments.
