‘Reign’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Leftovers’ star to reprise role
Clearly, Amy Brenneman is a very busy actress at the moment. Not only is she a significant character on the HBO series “The Leftovers,” but she also has just signed on to appear in at least one early 2015 episode of “Reign” for The CW. She is reprising her role as Marie de Guise, who certainly ruffled feathers the first time that she was around on the series.
This news was confirmed by executive producer Laurie McCarthy to Entertainment Weekly, who also offered up the following message to go along with it:
“We are very excited to welcome back Amy Brenneman as Marie de Guise in an episode airing next year … You never know what’s coming with Marie de Guise, and this time will be no different as she delivers a series of shocking revelations to Mary, and ultimately forces her to face and confront her failing relationship with Francis.”
Mary and Francis are clearly at a difficult point in their lives right now, with much of that stemming from the shocking rape sequence that we saw during this season. There are other problems here, as well, and the biggest takeaway is probably that for Adelaide Kane’s character, being atop France is going to prove precarious in so many different ways.
New episodes of “Reign” will continue starting on Thursday, January 22 on The CW, and we hope that the presence of Brenneman (also known for “Private Practice”) is going to be something that helps to get the show some added attention. Ratings-wise, this is a series that needs it, and getting some more guest stars familiar to wider audiences will help.
