‘The Walking Dead’ spin-off show will be set in Los Angeles

The Walking Dead -Who knew that zombies could be so star-struck? It appears that for the upcoming spin-off / companion series for “The Walking Dead,” we are going to see the infestation hit a place that we sometimes think already has a zombie population: Los Angeles.

This news has been heavily rumored for some time, but TVLine confirms that this setting is going to be used for the upcoming series. What is still not clear is if the show is actually going to film in California (we hope so, for realism purposes), or shipped off somewhere like Vancouver, where it can be filmed a little cheaper. Plus, the Canadian city has already doubled for such places as Santa Barbara, Maine, and everywhere in between.

We’re not too surprised by this news, mostly because early inclinations for this spin-off is that it is going to show a different side of the apocalypse, and one where there is still a larger slice of humanity still out there. The unfortunate thing is that with all of the people in the L.A. area, we could see an infection spreading very quickly.

Most likely, the spin-off is going to start filming soon, and could be in consideration to air in the fall of next year. Personally, we almost hope that AMC does something here similar to what they are planning for “Better Call Saul”: Premiering the show on a Sunday, and then shifting it over to Monday nights. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to air the two shows back-to-back full time, since you are basically marginalizing “Talking Dead” at that point. This talk show is probably one of the easiest shows to profit from ever, since all you have to do is pay for the set, the guests to appear, the crew, and host Chris Hardwick.
