‘True Detective’ season 2 adds … Rick Springfield? It’s true
Rick Springfield wishes that he had Jesse’s Girl, but he doesn’t have to wish that he was in an HBO show any longer!
In a post on Twitter, the actor / singer confirmed that he is appearing in at least one episode of “True Detective” season 2. It is definitely an unusual and surprising bit of casting, but if there is one thing that we know for sure about HBO, it is that they are not just going to book people for the heck of it. Like we said with Vince Vaughn, either there is a specific reason why he was cast, or he did something in an audition that producers really liked.
Given the super-secretive nature of filming for this show, we are admittedly surprised in the first place that Springfield was allowed to announce anything at all. This show has only released a few details here and there, with the biggest one being the cast that includes Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch, and the aforementioned Vaughn. Filming is taking place in California, and the new season will premiere at some point in the new year.
As for a premiere date, we imagine that you are going to be waiting for a while to see that. The very earliest it could premiere is June (HBO has “Game of Thrones” until that point), but we personally would not be shocked if it premieres after “The Leftovers” in the fall position once held by “Boardwalk Empire.”
