‘The Newsroom’ season 3, episode 6 (series finale) preview: Jeff Daniels, more sign off

Before we say anything else about the series finale of “The Newsroom” next week, let’s just say this: The title is a metaphor! We don’t know for sure if Will’s days at ACN are done, and we don’t really want to know. There is a certain amount of power in pondering over what the mystery of the show’s last episode will be.

“What Kind of Day Has It Been?” is a rather odd title for the episode, but this looks like a powerful one. For example, Will and Mac have huge decisions to make, and Maggie may get a chance to move forward with her career.

Want to check out some more news? Then take a look at the attached synopsis:

“A sudden death leads Will and Mac to ponder the milestones that transformed the newsroom, and look ahead towards ACN’s uncertain future. Maggie lands a field-producer interview in Washington; Neal’s digital site is shut down for repairs; Leona offers sage advice to Pruit.”

The death in the synopsis is a reference to Charlie, who tragically went via heart attack at the end of the episode. This changes everything, not just for Jeff Daniels’ character professionally, but also personally.

Meanwhile, there is an added complicated now when it comes to the Maggie job interview: She and Jim are now closer to being together! Will she go with her ambition, or decide to stay close to someone she has, off and on, wanted to be with for some time?
