‘Sons of Anarchy’ series finale: Jimmy Smits on Nero, story’s end, expectations

With the series finale of “Sons of Anarchy” now mere days away, this is obviously a time to wax poetic a little. Also, it is a time to wonder whether or not the show is going to meet some of the enormous expectations that are out there for it.

If you are to listen to Jimmy Smits, he feels as though most longtime fans are going to have nothing to worry about on the subject of whether or not they will be disappointed. As a matter of fact, the actor passed along the following message during a conference call with reporters (via TVLine):

“I don’t think audiences will be disappointed at all … The audience is going to be satisfied with the way it ends up, and that it continues to deliver a one-two punch. [Creator] Kurt [Sutter] ended it really beautifully.”

Smits also admits that he was surprised in a way by how the story ended for Nero, but that he at the same time understands it. As for what that means, we’ll just have to wait to find out.

If nothing else, cheers to Jimmy for making it to the finale. When he first became a major part of the show during the fifth season, we assumed that he was going to be a one-season sort of Big Bad character, and we would probably not hear a whole lot more about him beyond that.
