‘The Newsroom’ season 3, episode 4 preview: Will’s hearing; Jim, Hallie’s fight

With there only being three episodes left of “The Newsroom,” we know that the show is going to have to move at a pretty breakneck pace, and that includes figuring out who is going to head behind bars over the government documents.

Based on the promo below, Will McAvoy is going to continue to be defiant of the government as they press him on the source, telling a Grand Jury that he will not reveal the name of the source no matter how much they choose to press it.

Meanwhile, the battle to figure out who is going to try and purchase ACN’s parent company will continue, as Pruitt (BJ Novak) remains in the picture. Meanwhile, Hallie and Jim continue to be at odds over the best way to do the news; while the former is in a place now where she values more personal stories, Jim has become a little bit of a news snob in some ways. We understand his positions, but the reality here is that it is difficult for many networks and outlets these days to really hold themselves up to his ideals.

What is also worth watching out for in this episode is Don and Sloan continuing to try and hide their relationship from the newest HR employee at the network, who seems desperate for some particular reason to nail the two of them. We’ll just have to wait and see if he ever ends up being particularly successful.
