‘How to Get Away with Murder’ spoilers: On the fallout for Michaela

At one part during the recent winter finale for ABC’s “How to Get Away with Murder,” we wondered whether or not Michaela really was Sam’s killer. However, Sam ended up getting up after being knocked off of the stairwell, and it was ultimately Wes who delivered the decisive blows to the character.

While in one way fans of Michaela should be happy that she was not the person behind the attack itself, there is another complication here that still needs to be considered: She was still a part of that fateful night, and has many issues and problems that need to be resolved (including the loss of her engagement ring).

While the ring is going to be a big issue in her personal life moving into the second part of this season, show executive producer Pete Nowalk tells Entertainment Weekly that when it comes to most other problems, they are not going to seem like much of a big deal at all compared to that night. Even the pre-nup issue for Michaela will feel like nothing:

“We all crave drama in our lives, but nothing seems like that big of a deal anymore. You just have to cling to what makes you feel safe and you’ll do whatever you can to do that.”

The second part of the season begins on January 29, so it will be interesting to see this character unravel a little as she learns that it is impossible to keep that perfectionist persona going a whole lot longer. Not only is there the Sam issue to worry about, but there is also Lila Stangard.
