MTV’s ‘Awkward’ season 4 finale review: Who is pregnant, and who’s engaged?

Tonight, “Awkward” season 4 came to a close with spring break winding down, and this was definitely an episode stuffed full of surprises. After a few episodes this season where it felt like the story was standing in place, the show really moved a hundred miles an hour tonight.

Let’s start with what is shocker #1, and that is the news that Lacey is pregnant … again! It’s been a long time since she welcomed a child, and this is an interesting wrinkle given that she was about to go to college. Jenna is encouraging her to still do it, even if it will be difficult.

Meanwhile, shocker #2: Tamara got engaged! Well, it was not under the best pretenses. She thought that her military man Adam was leaving for the Middle East, and she decided that this was a great chance to take a big leave. However, the truth was that he was actually going to be staying put for a while.

Shocker #3? That Jake and Gabby had a little bit of extracurricular fun right when Matty was starting to sulk over Jenna. He didn’t tell Matty about it, though.

In the end, this season ended with all sorts of unanswered questions, and Matty realizing that he completely messed things up back when he had a real chance at winning her over. Now, he is running the risk of leaving high school alone … and this is exactly the place that we wanted to see this story go.

Now, Jenna is finally going to be won over. It’s going to be a long few months, but it will be worth it. Grade: B+.
