‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 2 spoilers: Coulson vs. Whitehall, Skye’s past in winter finale

“Agents of SHIELD” fans, be sure to mark your calendars right now for Tuesday, December 9. After all, this may be one of the biggest episodes of the show to date courtesy of it being the winter finale. The title here is “What They Become,” but we are admittedly almost as curious about who the characters already are.

The official synopsis via ABC does not give a whole lot away, but it may still be enough to get you more than a little bit excited:

“Coulson and Whitehall’s forces meet in an explosive confrontation that dramatically alters everyone’s fates. Meanwhile, Skye discovers shocking secrets about her past.”

What we know about this episode already is that the blue alien has ties to the same character Lee Pace played in “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and as Coulson and company find out more about this race, it may be a nice source of answers for the team.

But who is Skye … and what is Skye? There have been questions and speculations about that already, and we wonder if there will be full answers for it. This is the sort of shocker that this should could really get away with. It is hugely important for the foundation of the show, but at the same time, it’s also something that would not alter too much of the Marvel universe elsewhere. As we’ve long said, that is one of the biggest challenges with this show. There are benefits of the Marvel universe, but also big disadvantages.
