‘Graceland’ season 3 official; USA renews Serinda Swan series for another run
USA certainly made us wait a heck of a long time to figure out the future of “Graceland,” but it has now been officially confirmed: We’re going to be seeing a whole lot more of the series moving forward.
Given that USA specifically mentioned huge DVR gains, which were more than 100% per episode in the 18-49 demographic, we are actually thinking that it may have been this viewership that saved the show, which stars Aaron Tveit, Serinda Swan, and others. What USA Network President Chris McCumber had to say on the renewal is as follows:
“This season of Graceland took viewers on a wild ride with unexpected character twists, and a heart-stopping cliffhanger that left a lead character’s fate in question … [Creator] Jeff Eastin and the talented ensemble cast deliver on all levels, and Season 3 will undoubtedly continue to keep us on the edge of our seats.”
We are very thrilled for “Graceland,” but it is also not lost on us at the same time that this is a show that is not even remotely out of the woods yet when it comes to getting many more seasons. They have a variety of major challenges, and they include a name that sounds more like Elvis than a gritty drama, and also a cast that is relatively unknown, even if Swan has a high-profile arc right now on NBC’s “Chicago Fire.”
USA also needs to still consider changing up their longtime “Characters Welcome” campaign. This set the tone for the network to be light and breezy, and this show is anything but. It actually feels more like something that would be on FX or TNT.
