‘Pretty Little Liars’ season 5: Could a similar show be on the way from Marlene King?
Marlene King has already shown that she can make some magic over on ABC Family. While “Ravenswood” did not go on as long as anyone would have hoped, “Pretty Little Liars” is to us the biggest phenomenon in the history of the network. It’s not even close.
With that in mind, can you really be that shocked that the network would want to team with her on another product based on a Sara Shepard book series? Well, Deadline is reporting that King has teamed up with executive producers Les Morgenstein and Cheryl Dolins for a TV adaptation of “The Perfectionists,” a Shepard product that revolves around five young women who plot the murder of a man who is making their lives incredibly difficult.
However, herein lies the twist right now. Someone actually does kill the man using many of their plans, but it’s not them. Basically, this is a twist that makes it worthy of being on the network, and it should get some viewers. Coincidentally, it also reminds us of a certain plot point of an extremely popular drama from the past year. (We’re not going to say what it is, mostly because it would give away some spoilers.)
The premise and King combined seem like enough to make this into a winner, but remember here that nothing on ABC Family is a slam dunk. “The Lying Game,” after all, lasted far less time than we would have predicted going into its run on the network.
