‘Elementary’ season 3 spoilers: How will Sherlock handle Watson’s new boyfriend?
If there is something that we have come to learn about Sherlock Holmes on “Elementary,” it is that he is a man who likes things done a certain way … which is mostly his way. He’s not too fond of things taking place that are not to his precise specifications.
So what happens when he deals with Joan Watson having a new man in her life? It’s going to be frustrating for him, largely because he is the sort to presume that his return would mean a return to the status. While he is going to try to do his best to keep a level head on the subject, Jonny Lee Miller tells Entertainment Weekly that eventually, there would be a moment where all of the tension starts to come to a head:
“It’s an annoyance … You can see she’s developed a relationship and moved on with her life.”
Meanwhile, Lucy Liu seems pretty confident that the status quo really is not something coming up for either character:
“He thinks everything’s going to go back to normal, and that’s not what’s going to happen in season three.”
What we do at least know for certain is that nothing is going to be particularly sound for the characters going into the next new episode, which will focus on some of the tension that exists between Sherlock, Watson, and another character: His new assistant Kitty Winter. While she may be an asset to Holmes right now, that doesn’t mean Watson will appreciate her in the slightest. We’ll see what happens.
